News Harvest 2004: Saved by the Wind! Ooh La La, Sacrebleu! the South of France can be hot, hot, hot in summer! Thankfully the 2004 harvest was saved from the intense heat by a very strong northwest wind that helped lower night time temperatures and cool things down a bit. The delightfully sunny, warm days and blissfully chilly nights allowed my growers to wait peacefully until the fruit reached the perfect maturity and was ready to be picked. Now it was time for the real work to begin. Because of the intense heat, the harvest took place each day from 4am until 12pm from late August through mid-September. Each afternoon the tired harvesters ate a satisfying lunch washed down with my charming wines and took a much needed break! |
