Tasting Notes
My 2004 Lulu B. Syrah has an intense garnet color, which, incidentally, goes perfectly with my dark hair! It has a powerful bouquet of red berries with floral notes of violets. It is a wonderful wine with complex flavors and soft tannins – magnifique! It also has a good balance between rich spice flavors and striking aromas of violets. Quite an attractive mix, I'm sure you'll agree.

Try It With
As it should be with a big wine, I recommend that you try my 2004 Lulu B. Syrah with grilled or roast cuts of beef and lamb or goat cheese. It's also perfect for a BBQ, with fiery chili or pasta marinara. Be sure to serve it at 60 to 66°F and, although it's good to drink now, my Syrah can be aged for 3 to 5 years, as well.

Where It Comes From
I found the most exciting grapes for my 2004 Lulu B. Syrah at vineyards in the Minervois region, only 18 miles from the glorious Mediterranean Sea.

How I Made It
Please be patient with me as I try to explain how I made my wine. My Syrah underwent temperature-controlled stainless steel vinification after the destemming. An initial five-day cold pre-fermentation prior to the alcoholic fermentation helped to extract the red berry aromas that I carefully conserved until bottling. 30% of the wine was aged in oak for six months, adding firm tannins and delicious vanilla aromas. Now that wasn't too bad, was it?
